Christmas Feelings

This Christmas season has been different.  I started out as I always do playing Christmas songs and trying to get more in the spirit as the big day looms. But something was out of kilter. I have read many journals in J-Land where the Christmas spirit seems hard to muster for 2006.

My heart goes out to those of you who are having a hard time of it. You will all be in my thoughts this Christmas morning.  My own worries pale in comparison to what others are experiencing and I hesitate to even mention them. I want to keep everyone in the loop, though.

We learned about ten days ago that our landlord’s father fell and broke his hip.  His father and mother are in their mid seventies and he feels the need to move them to Savannah so that family and friends can check in on them each week.  He will be renting the house to his parents when our lease expires at the end of February.  We will have to move!

So, amid all the rush and hoopla of the season, we have been looking at real estate with more of an eye towards buying this time instead of renting.  Yes, we have decided to start putting down some roots here in the Savannah area.  We’ve lived here ten years now, so I guess it’s about time.

With the added stress and time invested in looking at available housing, I have been behind in my shopping and had to play catch up with all my Christmas chores.  Finally, my shopping is all done and I only have to work until noon tomorrow on Christmas Eve.  I’ll finish wrapping all the presents when I get home.

Tonight I am going to push all of the thoughts of anxiety out the window and sit down once more with my guitar to share another seasonal song.  I hope you have a Merry Christmas come Monday and may all your prayers be answered.  Peace and Joy to you all!

Sam, you see, Life just keeps rolling along, no matter the season.  You are correct, so many here in our neighborhood have been struggling with all manner of difficulties.  It's disheartening surely.  But I think that even those of us who may be struggling are trying to keep our faith and our Christmas spirit alive and well -- in spite of.  This is the best time of the year, but it can also be the most difficult time of year for many.  Pray we all have a wonderful happy holiday!

Merry Christmas to you and yours!  I ask only for Peace on Earth this year.

Hi Sam,
It was nice to come here and visit you again.
I agree with what you said about "something in the air" in holiday 2006 that seems to pull Christmas spirit from a lot of people. I've felt it, my husband felt it, I've seen it in people I know..I'm like..what's going on?
There are less fortunate and there are those who will have a hard time going through this holiday season..I wish the best of them in the coming year.

And to you and yours Sam, Goodluck with house hunting and wishing you a joyous Christmas and a Prosperous new Year.
Gem :-)

Many of our J-land friends, including myself, are going through difficult times, Sam, but we will all be okay. You will too, and I know you know that. It is such a blessing to know so many people who read our journals ( both yours and mine), are praying for us. Isn't God good? He is always placing blessing within our hands.
How wonderful that you are able  (and willing) to share your talent with all of us. I have had to move unexpectedly myself, so know how stressful it can be. But whenever I had too, I made myself look ahead to the new place I'd be living in; would look, after moving in, for what I loved the most about it. Doing that made the transition less painful. I am looking forward to hearing what you and your wife love the most about your new home.

I can sympathize!  We had a rodent come in and gnaw holes in all our plumbing while we were spending the weekend with the grandchildren.  We now have to replace the drywall in almost every room.  Needless to say, there is no christmas tree or any other decoration in this house.  Thank goodness we can go over to see the kids and enjoy their's.  Decorated our little carpenter gothic church today.  Made me feel better.  And I think of Jan and am grateful that it is only dry wall and pipes.

Love and merry Christmas, Lynn

The best of luck to you and Paulette finding the place that is just right for you both. I loved your song, you did good. Merry Christmas to both of you. Helen

It may be inconvenient, but buying a house will probably turn out to be a Good Thing.  Merry Christmas from an almost completely undecorated house, no snow in sight (and where the heck are those Christmas CDs hiding?). - Karen

Well done Sam I loved that ,bless you and Paulette have yourselves a merry Christmas too ,and good luck house hunting ..love Jan xx

Well Sam, everything happens for a reason. It is stressful but, next year you may be looking back in your new house to realize that this turn of events was a gift. A gift from God. Merry Christmas friend. Tammy

Best thing I have ever done was to buy my house.

I know there is added stress for the holidays with trying to find another place to live.  I am sure that you will find a house that you love even more than the one you are in.  Hang in there.

I love that Christmas song! Have a very happy Christmas Sam and Paulette! I hope your house hunting in ther new year will bring you a new home you can be happy in and be able to call your own. I'm sorry this has come at a bad time for you, right on top of Christmas, moving is stressful at any time but having to move when it's not your own choice must be worse. Sam I am so sorry to hear that you have to find another home ~ but I am sure there is one out there just waiting for you and Paulette to move into ~ and it will be nice to own your own house so there will be no worry of moving again unless you want to ~ and Savannah sounds a wonderful place to put your roots down ~ despite this worry I hope you both had a peaceful and happy day ~ and thankyou for sharing your music with us it was lovely ~ Ally

Sam I am sure that you will find just the right place for yall.

I loved singing along with you like the old days!!!  As you know we still can't  move into the house!  I wish for you a whole and completed house.  We did spend Christmas in the new house--We had no heat or hot water, but I cookeed on my new stove and put up a Christmas tree--we broke out the new couches and chairs in the living room and had Christmas dinner.  The Spirit of a strong Mom who could make a home anywhere lives, I guess.  In the end I got the Christmas spirit and is was a peaceful weekend.  Keep us posted on your house search.

Sing away, Love  :)

I don't envy you having to house hunt, but make the most of it.  Hope you find something as close to perfect for you both, fast... LOL

Hope you had a great Christmas!

Sinatra, EAT YOUR HEART OUT!! You da man!! Sorry I'm so late in commenting, BUT, things have been a little stange out here in Colorado, to say the least. You, and yours have a great remainder of the Season, and I'll try to be a little more responsive next time. rich

Sam, I'm behind in my journal reading (again) so am late in wishing you a Merry Christmas and letting you know I'm saying a prayer that all goes well w/the upcoming relocation.  Love these audio clips you're doing!!!  I'm so behind on technology - will I ever learn how to do all this stuff, too???

Though I regret your February move won't allow you to join us in SC I do extend my hopes that things go as planned.  You're right, it's a seller's market, so now's the time to buy.  Will miss meeting you, but promise to raise a champagne toast in your honor!  CATHY
