To those that got an alert about a new entry here and came by only to find symbols and scripting signs, I apologize!
I have been trying to update the "About Me" section of my journal. I have put this chore off way too long and have spent quite a bit of time going though all the links I keep in my favorites area checking to see if they are still viable links and that the authors are still writing.
I've been promising myself, as well as a few others, that I would update the "Other Journals" section here for quite some time. This week I set out to do it. It took hours going to every journal and compiling the list of 147 journals I am trying to display.
Right off the bat I found out that the "Other Journals" space that AOL provides us can store only 50 links. I've seen other journals were they put a link to a page that has their entire lists when the lists are over fifty.
I thought when I finally learned how to manipulate pictures in my journal I had mastered this domain. Hah! Fat Chance. Yes, I have the knowledge and ability to insert links in this space and have them work, but I give up trying to figure out how to show 147 links on one page.
Ok, any of You out there who has figured out how to do this, please Email me with some hints or instructions. I've wasted three days trying to do it the way I thought it should work with no luck.
I want to write a nice newsy entry, but I've promised myself I will not post again until I can list all the wonderful journals I visit. Help! Please?

Hey Sam, It must be tough being popular.....LOL.
I keep checking back at your journal each week for your updates, just an fyi.
I am of no help when it comes to the technical stuff on the journals but just wanted to drop by and say hi and now to wish you good luck.

Sorry no !Istuggle myself ........keep posting .....Jan xx
Hey Sam, I just created a Links journal. That way I can have all the journals and links I want. See...
Good to hear from you even if it was just a mistake. :) I have no clue how do much in these journals other than write but I'm sure someone will help you. Lots of knowledgeable people here in JLand.
I'd rather you just write and not worry about the journal list.
I haven't tried doing that Sam. I haven't updated my links to my favorite journals in a while although I do have a lot of them on alerts. I know it will take me a long time so I kept putting it off. Have A Nice Day! Helen
I wish I could help you Sam, I don`t think I have fifty journals to enter in...lol! Good luck with it anyway. :o))

Hi Sam, I have you on my alerts and always happy to see them. I'm on blogspot so I'm no help either, but looking forward to next entry as always.

Oh my goodness, Sam. I have no clue as to how to display that many journals. I have over 300 I read regulary, and people keep sending me more, which is why I am so far behind. Wish you luck, on this. SO glad I'm feeling better. Missed all of you.
Will be updating my story in a day or two. Trying to catch up.
Big hugs,

Got me...
Unless you do like you wrote and put them all in an entry, then link to that.
Sorry.
Cat :)
OK Sam, here goes (a. this may be more trouble than it is worth to you and b. it might not work the way you want it to):
1. Sign up for a free Bloglines account at http://www.bloglines.com/
2. Add all of your favorite journals ( a very easy process with the customized subscription tool for IE or Mozilla/Netscape/Firefox)
3. Following the directions available in the FAQ at Bloglines, copy and paste the HTML and URL to your subscription list (for example, mine reads "<center><script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://rpc.bloglines.com/blogroll?id=wil"></script></center>" without the starting and ending quotes) into your "About Me" section.
That's all. You maintain the list by adding or changing the subscription info in Bloglines.
If you discover that you can not run javascript within the AOL Journals "About Me" window, create a seperate web page in your FTP area and put the java script onto that. Write me or sepintx for more help.
By the way, today was the first time I got an alert on you in 6 weeks, so it was the first time I heard about your Dentist, Kevin, and his buddy Bill, and the events in January. Bully for you, my friend. Best $2500 the Marina ever spent. I'm very proud to "know" a true lifesaver. Despite doing CPR over 30 times in my career, I haven't any "saves" to show for it. Being there on the scene when stuff happens and responding immediately is a damned sight better than arriving in an ambulance 15 minutes later. Makes all the difference in the world for folks like Bill...

The only way to add more is by putting them in your 'favorite sites' box too. Can't think how else to do it. Pleae don't stop writing, we all love to hear of your life. How's Trenton doing? Jeannette.
Although I hate to admit it, I'm clueless. Like you, I have to look to others on occasion for guidance and help. Good Luck!
Hi Sam ... Sorry , I know nothing when it comes to this computer stuff lol. But, like your friends said in many of your recent comments .. please don't give up on journaling, you would be sorely missed ... your entries have always brought a ray of sunshine to us all (well, except the terrible tale about Bill's misfortune). Hoping the Bill is feeling like new by now! Judy
you are still cute :)
It's really not bad. You already know how to 'make a link' in a Journal entry. You type the words you want to be the link (i.e. the name of the journal or journaler, etc), Hightlight it and then click the link button. In the box that pops up you just paste the link for the journal, hit o.k. and your done! When you have all the entries in the entry, save it and copy the link. Thats the link you want to put in your about me space.
If these directions are too vague (I assumed you knew how to make links, for instance), e-mail me and I'll send you some 'step by step' instructions.

I was really looking forward to a really profound entry from you! But, I understand your committiment to get that task accomplished! Good luck! Nice to hear from you, anyway! JAE
Sam ...
Why don't you just put the 147 journal links on one page in this journal and then click the link to this entry button at the bottom of the page. Copy and paste the link to that page in your other journals space.

good luck...;I want to know how you got the lighthouse.

I ALWAYS ENJOY YOUR ENTRIES.
YOUR STYLE IS ADMIRABLE. THE KIND WE COMMON FOLK APPRECIATE.
THANKS FOR READING AND COMMENTING ON MY JOURNAL, SAM
Hey, Sam ! I so wish I could help you out, except that I am completely and totally computer illiterate. It takes me hours to do what others can do in minutes. Oh, well ..... Nice to see you in here, my friend. Hope all is well ! Tina
I saw where someone with the same problem you have created a home page using AOL's home page, where she listed all her links. Then she listed only one link on her "Other Journals" space, and that was to her home page.

I've only just found this entry after I commented on the next one!! No alert for it, AOL don't give out alerts for me either, I've had awful problems just lately with them! I see by the next entry you finally sorted it out. Jeannette. http://journals.aol.co.uk/jlocorriere05/Welcometomytravels
